Leo G Motter 1932 - 2017
Leo G. Motter, age 85, died on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 3:33 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on March 19, 1932 in Hancock County, Ohio to James and Velva (Oldham) Motter who preceded him in death. On July 25 1960 he married A. Jean Spencer and she survives in Dola.
Leo retired from Sprint Telephone Company after 39 years as a switchman. He served as president and board member of the UTELCO Credit Union for 25 years and the union president of CWA for 4 years. After retirement Leo worked for Brims Imports of Kenton for over 20 years. He was the former owner and operator of Motter’s Lawn Service. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381. He attended the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church of Kenton.
He is survived by five sons: Mark (Nancy) Motter of Dola, Terry (Jill) Motter of Dunkirk, Todd (Jennifer) Motter of Dunkirk, James (Gloria) Motter of Maryville, TN and Greg (Laura) Motter of Tampa, FL; two daughters: Yevette (Craig) Stump of Dola and Yevonne (Jaymee) Smith of Kenton; eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 21, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Jeff Waite officiating. Burial will be in Dola Cemetery, Dola with graveside military services conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice Care and/or Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Praise Band.
