A parade of colors is captured in this entrance scene on the Ohio Northern University campus. Spring is blooming all across Ada this week.

 The Ohio Northern Esports team fell in the finals of the Ohio National Collegiate Esports Tournament on Thursday, April 30, to Cincinnati 3-0.

The Polar Bears reached the finals in their first collegiate season with a 3-1-1 victory over Ohio State in the semifinals on April 23 and a 3-0 sweep of Kent State in the quarterfinals on April 16.

Ohio Northern, under first-year head coach Troy Chiefari, finished the spring Overwatch NEC season with a 7-4 record.

"This is a great accomplishment for our players," Chiefari said. "To reach the finals in our first year is very good. Everyone feels bad about the loss, but keep cheering on our guys."

Rhea L. (McPheron) Spencer, 86, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Otterbein of Cridersville.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1934 in Harrod, Ohio, to the late Byron “Mike” and Maver (Bracy) McPheron. On Feb. 28, 1953, Rhea married Carl Henry Spencer and he survives in Cridersville.

In cooperation with Ada schools, the Ada Icon will post each of the Ada High School class of 2020 seniors in the spotlight. Theo Hardesty is today's senior in the spotlight.
