The Ohio Northern women's basketball team has made a habit of playing close games of late. That didn't change Saturday against Capital inside the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears edged the Crusaders 55-52 to stretch their win streak to three games. The victory improved Northern to 13-4 on the season and 7-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the loss dropped Capital to 9-8 overall and 4-6 in conference action.
ONU School of Visual and Performing Arts presents ONU Choreographers Showcase in two performances this weekend at The Freed Center, according to Dylan Wood, director of the center.
Show times are 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, and 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 2.
The performances will showcase multiple dance genres, danced by a cast of over 40 guest artists and students.
From a depiction of commuters in rush hour traffic to the battle of the sexes, choreographers use the language of dance to tell stories that communicate and connect.
David Wilson, plant controller of Ada's Wilson Sporting Goods factory, holds one of the 2020 Super Bowl footballs produced in Ada. He said that the footballs went into production immediately following the final playoff game on Jan. 19. After that 108 balls were shipped to San Francisco and 108 to Kansas City. Icon: What’s your class schedule this year?
Kendal: Psychology/sociology, economics/public speaking, physics, literature and film, pre-calculus and trigonometry, computer apps/study hall, Art 4 and Spanish 4.
Senior Jaclyn Yankle (Youngstown/Cardinal Mooney) had herself a career night Wednesday against Wilmington. She poured in a career-high 27 points, as the Ohio Northern women's basketball team raced past the Quakers 85-76 inside the ONU Sports Center.
"Obviously, (Jaclyn) scored, which is really what we needed, especially in the first half," ONU head coach Michele Durand said. "Jaclyn can shoot the ball, and she's worked really hard in practice, and she got to see the ball go through tonight, so I'm happy for her."
Yankle did most of her damage from the 3-point land. She went 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, while adding a career-high five assists and four rebounds.
