ONU athletes and coach gain regional honors
Juniors Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) and Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) and head coach Jason Maus have all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional honors.
Richards won her second consecutive honor as the Great Lakes Region Female Track Athlete of the Year after claiming the same honor during the 2017 indoor season.
She currently owns the fastest time nationally in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs and ranks in the top-5 nationally in the 400-meter dash.
The junior will compete at the national meet in the 800-meter run and in the 1,500-meter run.
Molinaro was named the Great Lakes Region Male Track Athlete of the Year after his standout 2017 campaign.
He currently owns the fastest time nationally heading into the national meet and ranks in the top-20 nationally in the 1,500-meter run.
The junior earns the honor for the second time in his career.
Maus was named the Great Lakes Region Female Head Coach of the Year after guiding the Polar Bears to their highest rankings in team history.
Maus also guided the women's team to its first Ohio Athletic Conference Championship in the last seven years.
