Tommy Tires purchases Bluffton vehicle repair garage

Sheena and Tom Dotson of Tommy’s Tires, expanded their businesses recently by purchasing a long-established Bluffton vehicle repair business, Leiber Garage.

The Dotsons own a truck and tractor sales division in Ada, at the intersection of State Route 235 and 309.

Tom Dotson said, “The Leiber purchase adds to our total company business making us a one-stop shop.”

Dotson said Leiber’s will remain at 130 Vance St., Bluffton, and will continue with its current employees and the vehicle repair services it has offered the community.

The sale was completed on April 21, according to Dotson.

Started by Dwain Leiber, his business established a reputation over the years of quality vehicle maintenance. His business has handled everything from alignment, to engine diagnostics, transmission replacement, air conditioning, tires and routine oil changes and lubes.

The business, located on Vance Street since its inception in 1969, will continue its 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday hours. Its phone number will remain 419-358-7006.

Tommy Tire story
This is the second business addition this year for Sheena and Tom. In January they launched a truck and tractor sales division in Ada, at the intersection of State Route 235 and 309.

That business offers hand-selected one-half and three-quarter ton used trucks. Tom Dotson said that the venture into truck sales compliments the company’s tire sales.

The Ada location offers light mechanical and alignment service. That includes brake work, alignment, ball joints and oil changes.

In addition, the company is also a dealership for TYM Tractors.  It specializes in compact tractors in the 18- to 100-horsepower range. With the dealership comes a complete service center offering service and parts.

There’s lots more to the Tommy Tire Sales, which opened in Bluffton in 2010. It soon after opened a trailer division in 2012 and a tire location in Toledo that same year as well.

In 2012, Sheena and Tom started TTS Rentals and purchased the former Bluffton movie gallery on Jefferson Street turning it into Tommy’s Plaza, which now houses four businesses.

TTS rentals now has over 20 rentals ranging from residential to commercial properties stretching from Bluffton to as far as Van Wert County.

In 2015 Dotson made it possible for Lu Lu’s Diner expand to Bluffton, by purchasing the former Ideal Images building on East College Avenue.

In 2016, the company expanded its tire and trailer divisions with a new location in Ada.

Also in 2016 Dotson purchased the former Easter Tire and retread location on North Street in Lima.

In a non-vehicle venture, earlier this year the company teamed up with Bluffton Pediatrics and now provides free teddy bears to children who require medical services there.
