Jonathan "Jon" Cox 1957 - 2017
Jonathan B. “Jon” Cox, age 59, died on Friday June 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at his residence in LaFayette, Ohio.
He was born on September 20, 1957 in Lima, Ohio to Garlan and Tommie (Parker) Cox. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives in LaFayette. On November 22, 1975, Jon married Tracy L. Miller and she survives in LaFayette.
Jon was a chemical operator for Fort Amanda Specialties for 22 years. He attended Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, Lima. Jon never knew a stranger and entertained countless people with his stories and jokes. He was a member of the NRA and a true gun enthusiast. He loved riding his Harley. He was very proud of his family, his home, and he bragged on them constantly.
He is also survived by a son: Matt (Angie) Cox of Lima; two daughters: Rachell (Aaron) Hayden of Monroe and Elizabeth (Ryan) Coates of Lima; twelve grandchildren: Jonathan, Ryan, Josh, Karrie, Gabriel, Gradyn, Xander, Jake, Claire, Aisley, Charlie, and Henry: one brother: Timothy (Christy) Cox of Westminster; a sister: Kathy (J.R) Stratton of LaFayette; and his mother-in-law, Darlene Miller.
Jon was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ruth Coates; and his father-in-law, Bill Miller.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, at Lima Community Church of the Nazarene, Lima, with Dr. Doug Boquist officiating. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery, Spencerville.
Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at Hanson Neely Funeral Home Ada, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
