Plans for an Ada dog park underway
By Monty Siekerman
A dog park is in the planning stages to be located on Ada War Memorial Park property with an entrance off of East Lehr Avenue.
The park board has agreed to set aside an area for the park, and the village government has made arrangements to give the dog park the fence around the swimming pool which will be dismantled after this swim season.
The off-leash park will have two sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs, to socialize, exercise, and play. The dog park will include a shelter house.
The Ada Dog Park Association has been formed to lead the project. Heading the group are Cathy Cole, Chris Keiser, Ken Lauria and Jimmy Wilson.
The goal is to raise $33,000 for a 100-by 300-foot park and have it open by next summer. All donations to the association are tax deductible.
Association members reported, "Donations will be greatly appreciated so Ada can realize its where neighbors can gather and enjoy time together with their four legged family members."
Those wishing to help with fundraising or manning information booths at festivals may contact Cathy Cole at [email protected]. Donations may be mailed to 301 S. Johnson St., Ada, Ohio 45810, with checks made out to Ada Dog Park Association.
The Association will be at Harvest and Herb Fest and other events.
A GoFundMe page (click here) is already set up. A Facebook page is in the planning stages.
