Richards breaks Div. III record, Molinaro sets school record
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) set a new Div. III record in the 800-meter run and junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) set a new school record in the 800-meter run on Saturdayafternoon at the Music City Distance Carnival.
Richards, who owned the previous Div. III record in the 800-meter run, broke her own record by nearly two seconds as she finished third overall in the event in 2:00.62.
The junior also automatically qualified for the United States Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Cal. and will compete in the 800-meter run.
Molinaro broke former Polar Bear standout and National Champion Jimmy O'Brien's school record in the 800-meter run by nearly a second, setting the record in 1:47.73.
