D. Allan Ewing 1952 - 2017
D. Allan Ewing, age 65, passed peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 1:59 AM after many years of battling CIDP at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on February 14, 1952 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Dwight E. and Hattie M. (Dotson) Ewing.
On June 22, 1983 Allan married Mary (Hubbell) Ewing and she survives at their rural Alger home.
Allan had two children, Derek A. Ewing of Lima and Stacy L. (Shannon) Manns of Lima. He had a step-son, John Simon of Ada. In addition to his wife and children Allan had five grandchildren, Noah and Isaac Dry of Lima and Shaun, Nicholas, and Erick Simon of Ada. He is also survived by his brother, Monty E. (Joyce) Ewing of rural Alger, a sister Tanna Ries of Alger and two sisters-in-law Claudia Titus of Wauseon, Ohio and Susie (Rich) Cribley of Ada. He had several nephews and nieces.
Allan retired from General Dynamics after 30 years. He loved target shooting and archery. Allan had won several awards and trophies in both sports on the national, state and local levels. He had an archery shop, Stayin' on Target. He was the local Matthews Dealer in Hardin County, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association and the International Bow hunting Organization. He held a 5th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Allan will be missed by his family and close friends that stood by him as he fought his battle with his CIDP.
Their love and support helped him deal with its challenges. They will be forever appreciated forever appreciated for their support and help.
There will be no services or visitation for D. Allan Ewing. His wish was to be cremated. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
