Lloyd A Salyer 1949 - 2017
Lloyd A. Salyer, age 67, died on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 4:05 a.m. at his residence in Alger.
He was born on September 10, 1949 in Marshallville, Kentucky to the late Jimmie and Lorena (Patton) Salyer. On May 29, 1968 he married the love of his life Shirley Slone Salyer and she survives in Alger. Together they had two children, Rebecca (Rodney) Spencer of Waynesfield and Lloyd E. "Tee" (Cherise) Salyer of Kenton.
Lloyd had seven grandchildren he loved dearly, Colby (Alanna) Salyer, Kindsey (Shane) Salyer, Michaela Spencer, Savanna Spencer, Brianna (Michael) Kerr, Kasey Hoag, Tate Hoag and he loved Conner and Tessa Shirk like his own also.
He had six great grandchildren who are alllll papaws! Aubree Rickle, Audrie Kay Salyer, Chandler Lane Salyer, Easton Knox Salyer, Liam Michael Kerr and Myah Elaine Kerr.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmie Salyer and Lorena (Patton) Salyer Lynch, step father Dale Lynch, his grandparents John and Rebecca (Poe) Salyer, Willie and Leila Mae (Marshall) Patton, a brother Steven Salyer and a nephew Christopher Salyer.
Lloyd was a Church of Christ Minister for several years and attended the Church of Christ in Kenton, Ohio. He retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima after 30 years of service in 2002. He was a member of the Alger Marion Township Veterans Memorial Committee. Lloyd loved wood working, his apple orchard, gardening and having coffee at the Alger Carryout and the Alger Freeze. He also loved his pets, Chloe, Rusty and Stud. He was a graduate of Salyersville High School class of 1967 in Salyersville, Ky. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and community.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Minister Clyde McCall officiating.
Friends may call three hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation in c/o UT Medical Center, 3000 Arlington Avenue, Toledo, Ohio 43614.
