Tonight's concert takes place on the ONU lawn
The Lima Symphony Orchestra will again celebrate Independence Day with a “Patriotic Pops” concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 on the ONU campus. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held on the sculpture mall east of McIntosh Center between Presser and Weber halls.
The fun-filled family event will feature patriotic music, movie musical selections, popular tunes and a tribute to our armed forces.
Among featured selections will be John Philip Sousa’s “The Thunderer,” selections from “My Fair Lady,” “The Muppet Medley,” “Spinning Wheel,” “Killing me Softly with His Song,” “Variations on a Shaker Melody” and “Hang on Sloopy.” The concert will close with a trio of patriotic musical pieces. Guest vocalist Kirsten Osbun-Manley, Ohio Northern resident artist in music and musical theatre program director, will perform selected songs.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring lawn chairs, blankets and their favorite picnic foods to enjoy an evening with family, friends and neighbors on the scenic ONU campus. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the ONU Field House.
Now in its 64th year, the Lima Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Crafton Beck, who has served as artistic director since 1997.
The event is sponsored by Quest Federal Credit Union, Robinson Fin and The Little Chicago Room, the village of Ada, Liberty National Bank, Vancrest of Ada, Allan Nott Honda Toyota, Fresh Encounter/Community Markets, Lewis Family McDonald’s, Cole Motor Sales, Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, Ada Family Dentistry, Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, ONU Office of Residence Life, Rogers Nationwide Insurance Agency, Ada Kiwanis Club, ONU Office of Career Services, and Bud and Barb Winzenried.
