The Ada Dog Park Association is raising funds for an off-leash dog park. This map shows the need: There are 1,352 registered dog owners in 45810 ZIP code, according to the Hardin County auditor's office.
Mapmaker Jimmy Wilson took the auditor's information and plotted where fury friends live in the Ada area. One might be surprised to learn so many dogs live in the community. There are probably more dogs here than this map shows because not everyone who owns a dog buys a license, which if caught could be an expensive offense.
Wilson, Ph.D., teaches in the business college and is a member of the Dog Park Association, which is heading up the planning and fundraising. The asociation has been given the fence around the village pool which has been dismantled due to a pool improvement now underway.
The park board has set aside a 100'x300' plot of land on East Lehr Avenue for the park location
Several organizations are planning to make significant donations to the association for installing the fence, building a shelter, and other expenses. More than $1,600 was donated at Harvest and Herb Fest last weekend.
The goal is to raise $33,000 and have the park open by next spring or summer.
To make a gift, mail a check to Ada Dog Park Association, 301 S. Johnson St., Ada, Ohio 45810 or online through PayPal at wwwadadogpark.com. The group's Facebook page is at wwwfacebook.com/adadogpark.
