On Oct 7 we had our first event of the year, the Ada Friends Kick-off Party which was a huge success. The party saw 59 out of our 85 matches for the year and many parents attend the event, and total attendance for the event surpassed 160 people by the end of the night.
The annual haunting of Ada’s Main Street and sidewalks takes place next week.
On Monday, Oct. 27, the annual Halloween parade sponsored by the Ada Kiwanis takes place. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot behind the Municipal Building. The parade begins at 6 p.m. The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and the Buy Local committee will also take part in the festivities with soup and pie cook-offs. Several area businesses will be open until 8 p.m., and horse drawn wagon rides will add to the downtown excitement.
Ada elementary school second grader, Aubrey Nash, took time to dress as a cat during Oct. 21 "dress in your favorite Halloween character day." The dress up day is part of Ada's Spirit Week, which leads to homecoming this weekend.
Forty-five sports seasons ago the Ada High School Pep Club had its beginning. This was a popular club for many area school in the 1970s. This photo shows the first year of the club, during the 1969-70 school year.
Tuesday was "wear your favorite Halloween costume" at Ada schools. Ben Thaxton, assistant principal, and Julie Thaxton, eighth grade teacher, decided to dress as (Ben: Ada baseball player) and (Julie: Ada cheerleader). This week is "Spirit Week" at Ada schools as a prep for homecoming on Friday.
