Bearcats win NWC title

PAULDING - Spencerville won a four-team Northwest Conference golf match Thursday at the Auglaize Golf Course to clinch the league regular season championship.
Spencerville finished first with 160 strokes, followed by Paulding (177), Crestview (205) and Ada (225).
Bearcat Gavin Harmon was match medalist with a 36, nosing out teammate Ethan Harmon's 37.
Alex Morgan topped the Bulldogs with a career-low score of 47. Brevin Sizemore shot a 55. Wyatt Baderstcher carded a 61 and Austin Amburgey added a 62.
Rob Allison also posted a 64 and Jake Colwell added a 73.
The Bearcats improved to 17-1 in NWC play with the wins. Ada (1-25) finished 0-18 in league play.
Bluffton won a three-team NWC match Wednesday with Ada and Spencerville.
The Pirates nosed out the Bearcats 173-175, with the Bulldogs third at 245.
Aaron Belcher of Bluffton was match medalist with a score of 34. Ethan Harmon of Spencerville finished second at 38.
Brevin Sizemore earned Ada honors with a score of 58. Amburgey and Alex Morgan tied with a total of 62. Rob Allison carded a 63 while Wyatt Badertscher added a 70.
The Pirates ran their league record to 13-3.
The Bulldogs compete at the NWC league meet hosted by Delphos Jefferson Wednesday, Sept. 20 starting at 8:30 a.m.
