Fifth consecutive shutout victory for ONU women

ADA — Sophomore Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) and freshman Jenna Fuller (Countryside, Ill./Lyons Township) led the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to its fifth consecutive shutout victory on Sundayafternoon, defeating Transylvania (Ky.) 5-0.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-1-1 overall with the victory, while the Pioneers fall to 2-5-1.
Northern was led offensively by Fuller with two goals, while Grierson posted her seventh consecutive shutout.
Freshman Sydney Leshnak (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) got Northern on the board early in the contest as sophomore Haley Moses (Mason) fed her a pass in the 27th minute to give ONU a 1-0 lead.
In the 31st minute, Fuller tallied her first goal of the afternoon after sophomore Hannah Martin (Mason) found Fuller with a pass, pushing the lead to 2-0
Less than a minute later, Fuller added her second goal of the afternoon as fellow freshman Megan Breier (Plainfield, Ill./North) found Fuller who capitalized to push the lead to 3-0.
Martin would finish off the first half scoring barrage in the 34th minute as she hit a strike to extend the lead to 4-0 heading into the intermission.
Freshman Siena Ward (Newport Beach, Cal./Newport Harbor) would seal the ONU victory in the 82nd minute as she scored the final goal of the afternoon to complete the 5-0 victory.
Grierson posted her seventh consecutive shutout and fifth consecutive shutout victory and improved her record to 7-1-1.
The Polar Bears outshot the Pioneers 23-2 and won the corner kick battle by a 10-0 margin.
Northern returns to action Saturday afternoon, as its open Ohio Athletic Conference action and hosts Mount Union at Kerscher Stadium at 5 pm.
