Interested in Ada and ONU history?
Call goes out to form a local historical group
Interested in local history and putting that interest to use in community service?
By Monty Siekerman
Rhett Grant, the new Ada Public Library director, has been seeking out people in Ada who have an interest in Ada/ONU history to form what might be called the Ada Historical Society.
The public is invited to an initial meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday at the library to discuss what projects to undertake, when and where to meet, what historical resources are available and where they are located, etc.
Although new in town, Grant quickly delved into the history of the library and recently spoke about the library's past because this is the library's centennial year. His interest in history is fortified by the fact that his undergraduate degree is in history.
Many interesting facts about the community come to light with a little searching and research: the town and campus people. places, events.
Those interested in helping form a local history group are encouraged to attend Monday's organizational meeting.
