ONU women's soccer wins

CLEVELAND — Freshman Sydney Leshnak (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) scored her first career goal to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to its second straight victory, as Ohio Northern defeated Case Western Reserve 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-1-1 overall, while the Spartans fall to 3-3-0.
Leshnak scored the only goal of the contest to lead ONU offensively.
The lone goal of the afternoon was scored in the 18th minute as Leshnak played a free kick from 30 yards out and scored to put Northern ahead 1-0.
The Spartans outshot the Polar Bears by 14-12 margin, and won the corner kick battle 7-6.
Sophomore Megan Grierson (Miamisburg) posted her fourth shutout of the season in the victory, recording three saves.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Wooster to take on the Fighting Scots at 5 pm.
