1st place Bulldog spikers sweep AE

HARROD - The visiting Ada volleyball team swept a surprisingly one-sided makeup match at backyard rival Allen East in Northwest Conference play Monday night.
The Lady Bulldogs won 25-20, 25-10, 25-14 to improve to 11-7 overall and stay atop the NWC at 5-0. AE fell to 9-2 and 4-2 in the NWC with the loss.
The Lady Bulldogs have now won 13 consecutive league matches.
Ada senior Melina Woods knocked down 22 kills, made five digs and added four blocks to pace the victors.
Senior setter Maddie Gossard dished out 22 assists and served nine aces. She now has 997 career assists. Gossard also hit four kills and made two blocks.
Senior Nikki Lehsten contributed four kills, six digs and four blocks. Senior libero Olivia Alexander compiled 10 digs while sophomore Sidney Gossard passed out six assists, served an ace and made a dozen digs.
The Bulldog reserves lost to AE.
Ada (6-4 home) hosts Spencerville (1-12, 0-5 NWC) Tuesday night in the final regular season home match of 2017. Seniors Woods, Alexander, Maddie Gossard, Kaiti Newland, Lehsten and Kylie Guagenti will be honored.
