Ada band and color guard have a great weekend
Over the weekend, the Ada High School marching band and color guard earned the chance to participate in the Ohio Music Education (OMEA) state marching band finals later this fall.
Their outstanding Oct. 7 performance at Norton earned the band and color guard that opportunity.
At Norton, the band and color guard received first place in Class C (schools with less than 300 students in grades 10-12) at the “Art in Motion” OMEA competition.
The group also received the following awards when combining classes B and C:
- Best color guard
- Best music
- Best visual effects
Although no awards were given, Ada’s color guard earned the highest guard score of the evening. This year’s competition show is titled “Chess- Rise of the Pawns” and includes music from Twisted as well as original compositions by director, Jonathan Lischak. Amy Webb serves as the color guard director.
Art in Motion is an OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) adjudicated event. The band will compete Oct. 14 at the Buckeye Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University Marching Band at Ohio Stadium.
A special thank you to the Ada Fire Department for escorting the Marching Band, Color Guard and Music Booster trailer back into Ada following the competition.
