Ada girls nip Lady Lancers
By Cort Reynolds
ADA - The Ada girls soccer team rallied to defeat visiting Lincolnview 4-3 in a Northwest Conference match Monday evening.
The first Bulldog home victory of 2017 improved their record to 3-9 overall, and evened their NWC mark at 2-2. The Lancers fell to 1-11 and 0-5 in the NWC with the defeat.
Ada trailed 3-1 but scored two goals late in the first half to tie it. The Bulldogs then tallied the go-ahead score with 10 minutes left and held on to snap a four-match losing skid.
Bulldog goals were tallied by Alivia Okuly, Gizem Tanriverdi, Bella East and Katie Butterfield. Caitlyn Stover, Butterfield and Brenna Hissong passed out assists for Ada.
"We controlled the ball for the majority of the match," said Ada head coach Doug Poling. "They led most of the first half, but we were able to score back-to-back goals in the first half to tie it up."
Ada out-shot Lincolnview, 30-21. Senior keeper Anney Archer eight made saves in goal, while McKenzie Long added 10 stops.
Ada (1-6 home) hosts Delphos Jefferson (5-6, 3-2 NWC) Wednesday at 5 p.m. in another league matchup.
