By Cort Reynolds
DELPHOS - Ada senior middle Melina Woods completed two three-peats this past week.
Woods led Ada to its third straight Northwest Conference title and then won NWC volleyball Player of the Year honors for the third year in a row in voting conducted by league coaches at Delphos Sunday.
Behind Woods, Ada clinched its second straight outright, undefeated NWC title this season and third consecutive championship overall, including a shared crown in 2015. The Bulldogs have gone 23-1 in the NWC over the past three seasons, and were 29-3 over her conference career.
The 6-0 southpaw became the first Bulldog to surpass 1,000 career kills earlier this season. She is headed to Canisius College in Buffalo on an athletic scholarship to continue her studies and volleyball career.
Senior setter Maddie Gossard was named second team All-NWC. She recently became the first Ada player to reach 1,000 career assists, and led the team in aces as well.
Well-positioned senior libero Olivia Alexander repeated on the All-NWC second team, and led the team in digs.
Sophomore setter Sidney Gossard was named honorable mention All-NWC.
