Ronald Houston Leonard, 1930 - 2017
Ronald Houston Leonard, age 87, died on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born on March 14, 1930 in Galion, Ohio to the late William and Gertrude (Armentrout) Leonard.
Ronald enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and he retired after serving for 20 years.
Besides bases in the U.S., he was also stationed in Japan, Germany, Korea and Iceland.
Ronald was stationed in Kobe, Japan where he met his wife Nancy K. Ikoma and they married on June 1, 1951, she survives in Ada.
Also surviving are his daughter and son: Linda Jane (Tom) Briggs of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Donald Wayne (Deborah) Leonard of Leesburg Ohio; two granddaugthers: Tara Rans of Bellefontaine and Jana Leonard;and one great granddaughter, Abigayle Caudill of Kenton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Leonard.
He served his country proudly and was a life member of the Ada VFW Post #9381.
Ronald attended the Ada Church of Christ Disciples.
He enjoyed building radio controlled air planes and model train towns in his basement.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home with Pastor Jacob Reel and Pastor Mike Armentrout officiating.
Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military service conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ada Church of Christ Disciples, 316 S. Main St. Ada, OH. 45810
