Ada to play in first Border Battle holiday hoop tourney

WAYNESFIELD - The Ada boys' and girls' basketball teams will compete in the inaugural "Border Battle" holiday basketball tournament Dec. 28-30 at Waynesfield-Goshen High School.
Local rivals Ada, Allen East, Upper Scioto Valley and host W-G will compete in the four-team tournaments, with eight games taking place over three days between the school's boys and girls varsity squads.
The event will culminate in the girls and boys title contests Saturday evening, Dec. 30.
The tournament schedule:
Thursday, December 28 -Varsity Girls
Allen East vs. USV 6 p.m.
Ada vs. Waynesfield-Goshen 8 p.m.
Friday, December 29 - Varsity Boys:
Allen East vs. USV 6 p.m.;
Ada vs. Waynesfield-Goshen 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 30 -
Varsity Girls Consolation 12 p.m.
Varsity Boys Consolation 2 p.m.
Varsity Girls Championship 6 p.m.
Varsity Boys Championship 8 p.m.
Ada will host the tournament in 2018, with AE serving as home for the event in 2019 and USV in 2020.
Block Insurance Agency of Waynesfield has committed to being the presenting sponsor of the event for its initial four-year rotation.
