July 1937 Contracts have been let by the Ohio Northern University officials for remodeling of a large residence opposite Taft gymnasium preparatory to opening the new University hospital in September. The building to be converted into a hospital is now occupied by Professor and Mrs. Vernon Smith. Extensive alterations will be made. A registered nurse has already been employed and a full-time physician is soon to be appointed who will divide time between the hospital and lectures in the pre-medical department. All students will be eligible to receive medical services and hospital facilities for a small quarterly fee. The opening occurred 27 September 1937 with Dr. Harry Wainsburg and Miss Naomi Berry, a registered nurse from Lima, Ohio, in charge.
