Betty Hauenstein, 1924 - 2018
Betty Hauenstein, age 93 died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 7:24 p.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio.
She was born on March 24, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA to Samuel and Marie Anna (Bastardi) Meringleo who preceded her in death. On March 25, 1944 she married C. Wayne Hauenstein and he died on April 15, 1987.
Betty retired from Ohio Northern University where she worked in the maintenance department. She was a member of the Ada VFW Post #9381 Women’s Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed Polka dancing. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center of Bluffton.
She is survived by a son, Ralph Hampton of Lima; three daughters: JoAnn (Thad) Boutwell Staley of Bluffton, Pat (Larry) Crist of Bluffton and Shirley (Bret) Mathewson of Ada; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; a brother, John Corsina of Delphos.
Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Meringleo and a sister, Rose Lautzenheizer.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Chaplain Bill Herr officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bluffton.
Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice and/or the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
