District Court of Appeals presides in Ada
By Monty Siekerman
The Third District Court of Appeals, consisting of three judges who are all ONU law graduates, heard oral arguments in a criminal case and a civil case out of Hancock County when they met at the law school today (Tuesday).
The court has been meeting at Ohio Northern each January for more than 30 years to give the law students and the public a better understanding of the appellate process.
And, yes, there was security because the cases are the real thing, not practice. The court has had ONU law graduates comprise the majority of the court for many years.
Pictured prior to hearing the cases are (from left) William R. Zimmerman, a former football player; John Williamowski, a former swim coach; and Stephen R. Shaw, a member of the court for more than 30 years.
They are with Susan Prueter, administrative council for the court, and Melissa Kidder, ONU instructor of legal research and writing.
