Live from Viva Maria's on Saturday night
By Monty Siekerman
What happens when you get a band director, a prosecutor, and a detective together?
You make music and that’s exactly what will occur at Viva Maria’s Pizza and Pasta on Saturday night during the football drop celebration in Ada.
The group known as Jive Turkeys will take the stage from 7-11:30 p.m. at the American-Italian restaurant located at 124 E. Buckeye, just a short distance from where the Wilson Made in Ada football drop will take place at midnight. Phone: 567-940-8482.
The Jive Turkeys were formed in the summer of 2014 by Jack Miller and Rick Eddy. Their first gig was opening for the Shiny Ribs, who have been featured on Austin City Limits. Originally a two piece acoustic act they expanded in the winter of 2015 to include a bass player and drummer.
All members hale from Lima. The music they play ranges from classic country, 70’s R&B and folk, 80’s pop, southern blues and rock, as well as modern country. Their approach to all the songs they play is rooted in blues with a jam band mindset.
The members are:
Jack Miller: Lead vocals and guitar
Rick Eddy: Lead guitar and vocals
Mike Parent: Drums and vocals
Steve Shilling: Bass guitar.
Jack is a detective, Rick is a prosecutor, Mike is a high school band director, Steve is retired.
Jive Turkeys performs at many night clubs in the Lima area as well as Shawnee National Night Out, Spencerville Summer Fest, and the Allen County Fair.
