ONU HealthWise Pharmacy now open
The ONU HealthWise Pharmacy recently opened in the Pharmacy Building located at 511 W. Lincoln Ave. The pharmacy is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The pharmacy is open to the public and accepts most prescription insurance plans, including the ONU employer insurance, UMR.
The facility is a full-service community pharmacy with a focus on comprehensive personal care, including the sale of over-the-counter medications. It is an extension of the preventive and disease-management services offered by ONU HealthWise.
The pharmacy serves the community by extending health-care services to area residents and provides an educational function in providing a practice site for ONU pharmacy students to gain real-life experiences.
The ONU HealthWise Pharmacy is managed by registered pharmacist Katie Westgerdes, a 2013 graduate of the ONU College of Pharmacy.
Clinical services offered by the pharmacy include:
• Patient education and resources to provide personalized care, such as a phone or in-person consultations and educational material
• Medication therapy management to review medications and provide consultative services regarding best utilization and other advice
• A medication synchronization program, which makes the most efficient use of time for individuals with several medications
• A compliance packaging program, which organizes doses of prescriptions for individuals taking medications up to four times daily
