This Polar Bear is the national player of the week
Ohio Northern junior center Ryan Bruns (Marion Local) was named the Division III National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.
He was also named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week on Tuesday.
Bruns had career-highs of 41 points and 17 rebounds in the Polar Bears' 108-87 victory over Muskingum and scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds in a victory at then-No. 25 ranked Baldwin Wallace.
For the week, Bruns averaged 32 points and 11.5 rebounds and added five blocked shots.
He was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
The Polar Bears are currently 11-4 overall and are in second place in the OAC with a 6-2 league mark under second-year head coach Rich Bensman.
