Alice M. Clark 1923-1918

Alice M. Clark, age 94, died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 9:55 a.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.                                                        .

            She was born April 30, 1923, to James B. and Coza Vera (Hodges) Rex, who preceded her in death.  On April 5, 1942, she married James Clark, Jr. and who died March 10, 2017.

            Alice was a homemaker whose specialities included swiss steak, fried potatoes, polk a dot salad and raspberry pie.  She was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren who she loved very much. She was a member of the Auglaize Bible Church, Harrod, which had its beginning in the basement of her home.  She was the organist for over 50 years, taught Sunday school and Bible school classes.  Her eternal rewards consist of spending countless hours helping others commit  Bible verses to memory and seeing many accept Christ as their personal savior.  Alice graduated from Harrod High School in 1941.   She was instrumental in leading her basketball team to the league title in 1938.  She was a top-notch swimmer and diver.

            Survivors include four sons: Terry (Sharon) Clark of Venice, FL, Doug Clark of Sarcoxie, MO, Gilbert (Lois) Clark of Lima, and Pat (Chris) Clark of Lima; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren.  

            Alice was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Nancy Clark; and six brothers: Dale, Burrell, Reed, Pearl, Joe and Wilbur Rex.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at the Auglaize Bible Church, 2525 S. Phillips Road, Harrod with Dave Brown officiating.  Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
