Hugh H. Ries memorial service will be held at a later date
Hugh H. Ries, 65, of Alger died in a fire at his home on Sunday, Feb. 11. His body was discovered the next afternoon in a crawl space beneath rubble of the collapsed kitchen.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held by the family at a later date. The date of the service had not been decided as of today. Schindewolf Stout Crates Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
He once owned two businesses in Alger and worked for Durez Corp. for 25 years.
He was born on July 24, 1952, in Kenton. On Aug. 8, 1976, he married Hilma Robinson and she survives.
He is survived by 1 grandson and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Seth.
He was a graduate of Kenton High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a local business owner formerly owning the Eastcrest Dari Freeze and the Fill'in Station. He was a farmer and worked at the Marion Correctional Institute early in life. He retired from Durez Corp. in Kenton.
He was a member of the Goshen Grange, the Indian Lake Moose Lodge, the Kenton Elks Lodge, the Ada American Legion Post, and the Kenton Amvets Post.
Donations in his memory be made to the Hardin County Humane Society, the Goshen Grange scholarship fund or the donors choice. Condolences may be left for the family by visiting stoutcrates.com.
