Bessie Prater, 1927 - 2018
Bessie Prater, age 90, died on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 8:21 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on October 4, 1927 in Pyramid, Kentucky to the late Acro and Luranie (Stephens) Castle. On November 1, 1947 Bessie married George Prater who preceded her in death on April 12, 1977.
Bessie was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and traveling. She loved being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons: George Randall (Ala Harp) Prater of Foraker, Gary (Beth) Prater of McGuffey and Jerry (Stephanie Price) Prater of Foraker; a daughter, Luranie “Sis” (Mike) Hamilton of Kenton; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Willard Castle of Ada.
Bessie was preceded in death by three brothers: Franzel Castle, Albert Castle and Boyd Castle; and seven sisters: Lydia Patrick, Ida Johnson, Esther Patton, Polly Prater, Virginia Sprang, Sadie Castle and Laura Castle.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Minister Heather Burry and Rev. Bill Prater officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until time of service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation at 2545 Farmers Drive #300, Columbus, Ohio 43235.
