Juvenile diabetes walk/run planned
There will be a 3K walk/run for juvenile diabetes at ONU on Saturday, April 14. Organizers of the event invite local businesses to set up tables to sell their products. Leaders of the run/walk also encourage local residents to form teams to donate to diabetes research.

The walk, hosted by the Professional Association of Women in Science in partnership with ONU Healthwise, will begin at 2 p.m. at King-Horn Gym. It will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
There will be snacks, live music from ONU's marching band, a food truck, face painting and corn hole from 1-4 p.m. Local merchants have been invited to to sell products during the event as well.
The cost to walk/run is $20, and includes a free t-shirt. All the money raised goes to juvenile diabetes research. This is the second year for the event, with last year's total reaching $2,000. This year's goal is $2,500.
JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) goals for those with Type 1 diabetes are:
Your blood glucose levels can be controlled automatically;
You can sleep, eat, exercise, and live as if T1D is not in your life;
T1D can be cured and is no longer present in your body;
T1D can be prevented and never threaten anyone again.
