Ada boys lose to Wildcats

KENTON - The Ada baseball team fell 11-1 at county rival Kenton Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs drop to 3-10 overall after their sixth consecutive defeat. The Wildcats upped their record to 5-6 with the victory.
Kenton scored in five of their six innings at bat. They built a 4-1 lead after four frames, then put it away with three in the fifth and four more in the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule.
Ada was out-hit, 6-3. Zac Swaney, Aaron Evergart and Austin Amburgey each singled for the Bulldogs. Swaney and Jacob Morgan each stole a base, and Morgan tallied the lone Bulldog run in the fourth.
Kenton's Trent Reichelderfer doubled and tripled to lead the winning offense. The Wildcats stole 10 bases and drew 11 walks to augment their six-hit attack.
Wildcat sophomore Garrett Thomas pitched a two-hitter over five innings, allowing no earned runs, to earn the victory.
The Bulldogs left four men on base while Kenton stranded six runners.
Ada lefty starter Matt Middlebrook hurled 4 1/3 innings, giving up four hits and five earned runs. He struck out four and walked six, throwing 44 strikes among his 97 pitches.
