Devils sweep Bulldog boys

ARLINGTON - The visiting Ada baseball team lost 6-0 and 10-4 at Arlington in a non-conference twinbill Saturday.
The Bulldogs fell to 3-8 overall with the defeats.
In the opener, Arlington broke up a scoreless game with two runs in the fourth. The Red Devils then put the game away with four more in the fifth.
The Devils out-hit Ada in the lidlifter, 10-5. Colten Shaffer, Aaron Everhart and Phillip Coulson each singled at the top of the Ada lineup.
Jaylin Burkhart and Bryce Paul added the other Bulldog singles. Everhart and Coulson each stole a base as well.
Coulson pitched well, allowing five hits and just one earned run over four innings. The sophomore right-hander struck out four and walked three. Coulson threw 51 strikes among his 83 pitches.
Junior Ethan Hall singled, doubled and had an RBI in the nightcap as the Ada offense stopped a three-game scoreless skid. Senior Everhart doubled in two runs and scored once.
Paul, Shaffer and Coulson contributed the other Ada hits. Zac Swaney, Tyson Moore and Jacob Morgan each stole a base. Swaney, Shaffer, Moore and Everhart scored the Bulldog runs.
Junior southpaw Matt Middlebrook started on the hill and pitched four innings, striking out four. Paul hurled the final two frames in relief and whiffed three Devils.
Arlington out-hit Ada in game two, 11-6.
