ONU faculty member to perform trumpet recital
David Kosmyna, ONU professor of music, will be the featured performer on trumpet in a faculty recital at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 7 in the Presser Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
He will be assisted by Pamela Ashmore, ONU adjunct instructor of music, on piano; Lance Ashmore, ONU adjunct instructor of music, as narrator; and James Dapogny of James Dapogny’s Chicago Jazz Band, on piano.
The program will feature Tartini's “Violin Concerto in E,” transcribed for piccolo trumpet, the “Concertino for Trumpet and Strings” by Knudåge Riisager accompanied by Pamela Ashmore, and Anthony Plog’s “Animal Ditties” with narration by Lance Ashmore on the poetry of Ogden Nash.
The second half will feature chamber jazz with Dapogny at the piano. Kosmyna and Dapogny will include tunes from 1928 to celebrate the 90th year of ONU's department of music
