The Cadets are coming
By Monty Siekerman
Once again, music will fill the air in Ada as the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps returns to Ada for the fourth summer.
The Cadets, which placed 7th in the World Class category last year, will bring 150 musicians and a support staff of 35 people when they arrive here on Friday.
The Cadets practice in small groups during the mornings and afternoons and as a group from 7-9 p.m. each evening in the stadium to prepare for tough competition in shows they give from Coast to Coast all summer long.
They will travel thousands of miles and perform before thousands of spectators before the summer ends. Local residents may watch the evening practices in the stadium.
Toward the end of their stay, the Cadets will give a free Thank You performance to all who wish to see their show. The date of the performance has not been set, but is generally held near the end of their stay at Ohio Northern. They will leave town June 15. The date and time of their Thank You performance will be announced in the Ada Icon later.
Prior to arriving in Ada, the Cadets spent two weeks at the University of Pittsburg-Johnstown preparing for their 2018 show.
