Helen M Prater, 1941 -2018
Helen M. Prater, age 77, died on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 8:20 p.m. at her residence in Mt Victory.
She was born on March 20, 1941 in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Joseph and Frances (Biederman) Dunson. On April 3, 1960 Helen married Eldon Prater and he survives in Mt. Victory.
Helen worked for Walmart of Bellefontaine for 10 years and previously owned her own ceramic shop. She was a member of the McGuffey High School class of 1959. Helen was a member of the Flat Branch Church of Christ, McGuffey. She previously was a seven year member of the First Christian Church of Kenton. Helen was a doll collector. She loved her family and they were the very most important part of her life.
She is also survived by her two daughters: Shari Jo Prater of West Mansfield and Gina (David) Roth of Bellefontaine; two grandchildren: Amber Foulk and Sallie Kaplan; seven great grandchildren: Aundrea, Kaiden, Jaylinn, Emma, Lily, Briar and Rhiya; a brother, Floyd Dunson of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Rose Marie Sorgen of Belle Center; and lifelong friends: Nikki Smith, Cathy Dummitt and Terri Lamb.
She was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Jolecia Foulk; and five brothers: Conneth, Dale, Richard, Clifford and Raymond Dunson.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastor Tom Kahley officiating. Burial will be in McDonald-Fairview Cemetery, Kenton.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Columbus Children’s Hospital.
