Dr. Clyde A. Painter, 1929 - 2018
Dr. Clyde A. Painter, age 88, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 1:27 p.m. at Promedica Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born on September 20, 1929 in Level Green, Pennsylvania to the late Harry Eldred and Bertha Mae (Young) Painter Sr. On December 27, 1952 Clyde married the love of his life Edith G. Pratt and they were married for fifty-four years. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2006.
Clyde retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada where he served as Dean of the College of Business. He served as a Deputy Sheriff in Naples, FL. Clyde served as an MP from 1948 to 1952 in the U.S. Army. Clyde was a member of the Ada First United Methodist Church. He was a sixty-six year member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM of Braintree, MA and a member of the former Ada Masonic Lodge F&AM #344 and a current member of the Latham Lodge #154 F& AM of Kenton.
He is survived by his two sons: Scott D. (Susan) Painter of Fridley, MN and Brett A. (Pamela) Painter of Toledo; two grandchildren: Rachel Painter and Andrew Painter; and a brother, Dennis (Betty) Painter of McKeesport, PA.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Painter Jr.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Latham Lodge #154 F& AM of Kenton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada with graveside military rites conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
