The music is "out of this world"
By Monty Siekerman
The Ada High School Marching Band and flag corps is preparing an out-of-this-world experience for those who attend their shows this coming school year.
This year’s band show is about space and the planets, featuring music from Gustav Holst’s suite titled “The Planets.”
A free show is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, in the back parking lot of the school for those who want a glimpse of the upcoming season. On Monday, band and flags members began an intensive two-week camp at the school to prepare for 2018-19 school year. They are practicing from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Jonathan Lischak returns as band director. He and his students have won numerous awards the past several years, as did band directors before his arrival in Ada. Music excellence is a strong tradition in Ada.
So, who is sitting on one of the planets in this photo? You’ll find (from left) Madison Wright, Kayleigh Heitmeyer, Samantha Crawford, Leona Dalton , Olivia Hiester, Kaylee Huffer, and Paige Seitz. Hanging upside down is Tessa Long.
