School renewal levy on November ballot
The Ada Schools will have a renewal levy on the November ballot.
An organizational meeting of a group called Advancing Ada Schools will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, in the board room. Advancing Ada Schools has been formed to promote the levy. All are welcome to attend.
Superintendent Meri Skilliter, said, “Previous board members and district leaders did a wonderful job throughout recent years of spreading the tax burden between property and income tax. The community has been generous in renewing the levies that generate revenue for operations and capital improvements.
"The down side to spreading out the burden is that the various levies have to be renewed, and the timelines for when they were initiated leaves a renewal of one of these levies on the ballot about every two years.”
Advancing Ada Schools is looking for some Bulldog supporters to help with a short, low-key campaign for the renewal on the ballot in November.
Mrs. Skilliter continued, “There are many experienced people on the committee, and the various tasks are easy to break down and spread out among committee members. It is important to have new members, including parents of younger students, to learn the ropes while seasoned members’ children grow up and these people rotate off the committee, to continue to have great school supporters helping get information out to the electorate as these levies need renewed.”
