Wake up to the past on Saturday in Ada
By Monty Siekerman
Wynn Hauenstein expects a huge turnout for the car show on Saturday...if the weather cooperates.
He has been working hard the past several months passing out information to car and truck owners to encourage them to bring their vehicles. He has lined up many sponsors. His last task is convincing the weatherman to change the prediction because rain is a spoiler.
If the “liquid precipitation” holds off, as many as 250 cars and trucks could show up. He has arranged parking space for the show cars and the spectators all along Main Street.
Permission has been granted to close Main from 1-8 p.m. for the Cruz-N-Ada which is being organized by the Ada VFW Post as part of this weekend’s Sidewalk Sales sponsored by the Ada Chamber of Commerce.
Prizes will be awarded in many categories, including 4X4 trucks, mayor’s choice, most customized car or truck, oldest vehicle, and more. The VFW Auxiliary will sell chicken and pulled pork in front of Four Seasons. There will be door prizes and a drawing.
The Ada VFW has held a car show in July for the past several years, but the event grew to the point that the Post’s parking lot was too small for the show cars and spectators. So, this year the VFW is moving its event downtown and combining it with the Chamber’s Sidewalk Sale.
