Elaine (Shields) Adams finishes an extensive window display for the holidays at COSI. Although polar bears remind one of Arctic cold, the ONU mascot polar bear (named Klondike) sends "Warm Wishes" in this artwork of 'bears and trees. Elaine won several district art awards while a student at Ada High School in the mid 1980s. She hasn't done a lot of art since, she said. But the extensive display at COSI proves she hasn't lost her touch. She is now manager of Flavours, the Sodexo catering service at ONU. (Monty Siekerman photo)

The Ada Schools welcomed 230 senior citizens to the 26th annual Christmas luncheon, which included a visit from Santa, and concluded with a performance by the Varsity Singers and High School Choir.
The festive occasion was an opportunity for the school system to say "thank you" for all that the seniors have done for the school in the past and continue to do.
The cheerleaders handled the coat-check while the boys and girls varsity basketball teams were the servers. The meal included roasted turkey and all of the trimmings.
The many cultures of Ada - on the ONU campus - got together on Tuesday to celebrate Christmas.
Monty Siekerman shares these photos of the party.

Greg’s Pharmacy, 126 N. Main St., Bluffton, will close at 4 p.m. on Friday. It will reopen Monday morning as a CVS Pharmacy.
CVS purchased the pharmacy from Clark’s RX Pharmacies, which has owned the downtown business since Jan. 1, 2012.
According to Greg’s Pharmacy Facebook:
“We would like to announce to our community that Greg's Pharmacy will be converting to a CVS Health Pharmacy. We will be closing Friday Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. and remain closed through the weekend for renovations before reopening Monday, Dec. 11, as CVS Health.
“We are happy to report our hours of operation and location will remain the same, as well as the existing staff.

On this week’s episode of the Polar Bear Hoop Talk podcast, hosted by myself and fellow senior ONU men’s basketball player Brandon Hawkins, we talked about our time at the Mount St. Joseph’s Tip-Off Classic over Thanksgiving Break, as well as our loss to Alma and win over Capital last week.
We went 1-1 at Mount St. Joseph’s (located just outside of Cincinnati), losing to ninth-ranked Washington University-St. Louis on the first night and beating Case Western Reserve University on the second night. In this podcast, we broke down each game and also ranked our favorite team meals from the weekend-long trip.
A member of Ada Boy Scout Troop 124 has become an Eagle Scout. Jacob Butterfield of Harrod is one of only four percent of Scouts who attain the highest level in Scouting.
The community project of the 16-year-old homeschooler involved refinishing the anchor of the USS Texas in Veterans Park and landscaping Railroad Park in Harrod. Butterfield worked with 13 volunteers who put in 169 man-hours on the projects.
Jeff Kurtz is Scoutmaster of Troop 124. Tom Lehman is Assistant Scoutmaster and served as project manager.
