Robert "Bob" L. Shaw 1933 - 2018
Robert L. “Bob” Shaw, Sr., age 84, died on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:20 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health Center.
He was born September 12, 1933 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Byron and Ilo (King) Shaw. On November 15, 1953 he married Rachel Vermillion and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2014.
Bob was a heavy equipment operator at Green and Sawyer Company of Lima. He was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18.
Surviving are a son: Robert (Kathy) Shaw, Jr. of Ada; a daughter: Rebecca “Becky” Brooks of Ft. Wayne, IN; a brother: Bernard (Lois) Shaw of Alger; a sister: Cleo Gossard of Harrod; six grandchildren: Robert (Brittany) Shaw III, Sarah (Quinton) Schmidt, Adam Shaw, Carrie Brooks, Corrie Brooks, and Callie Brooks; and seven great grandchildren: Jace Brooks, Jayden Brooks, Wyatt Shaw, Maverick Shaw, Daphnie Shaw, Bryden Castle, and Issaih Castle. Also surviving are: brother-in-law: Johnny (Marcy) Vermillion of Dunkirk; four sisters-in-law: Helen Shaw of West Newton, Carolyn Shaw of Bluffton, Carole Tong of Ada and Kay (Earl) Todd of Mt. Gilead.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Roselyn A. Shaw; and four brothers: LeRoy, Leo, Charles, and Wilbur Shaw.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Craig Hurley officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio.
Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, Ohio and until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
