Local schools to receive funding from school safety training program grant

Several area school districts including Bluffton have received funding for School Safety Training Grants, asccording to State Representative Bob Cupp (R-Lima). The grants are through a provision of Amended Substitute House Bill 318.
Area schools and funding follow:
• Ada $4,774
• Allen East $6,107
• Apollo JVSD $2,500
• Arlington $3,164
• Bluffton $6,305
• Cory-Rawson $3,079
• Columbus Grove $4,729
• Riverdale $5,559
• Upper Scioto Valley $2,500
The legislature’s safety investment for Ohio’s schools, including public, chartered non-public schools, and schools operated by county boards of developmental disabilities will be available in the form of a non-competitive grant through the Attorney General’s office.
Letters will be sent out to Ohio schools from the Attorney General’s Office with information for the schools to access the funds for the remainder of the fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019).
“The grants, in conjunction with the standards for school resource officers, in the recently enacted H.B. 318, will help every school in Ohio better prepare for the security of the school and the safety of their students – and will do it in a manner that each school, working with local law enforcement, determines best meet their needs.” Cupp said.
