ADA - The visiting Fostoria girls basketball team rode a 19-0 spurt midway through a close contest to a 72-61 non-conference win over Ada Tuesday evening.
The purple and gold fell to 7-12, while the visitors improved to 6-12 with the defeat.
Ada senior Haley Wyss tallied a career-high 26 points, but the big Lady Red run bridging the middle periods spelled the difference. Fostoria outscored Ada 22-11 in the third period, including 13-0 at the outset.
James W. Johnson, age 88, died on Wednesday, February 8 at 3:00am at his residence in McGuffey, Ohio.
He was born on January 29, 1929 in McGuffey, Ohio to the late Glenn and Nona Lee (West) Johnson. On August 13, 1950 James married Katherine J. “Kack” Risner, they were married for 66 years, she survives in McGuffey.
The ONU wrestling team got a pair of pins and won four weight classes by forfeit in a 47-3 dual meet victory at Muskingum on Tuesday night at the Steele Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 11-3 overall and are 4-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Muskies fall to 3-9, 0-5.
The Polar Bears return to varsity action next Tuesday when they wrap up their regular season with an OAC dual with Heidelberg on Senior Night at the ONU Sports Center.

ADA -- Legal scholar and author Stephen B. Presser will discuss “Do Law Professors Really Understand American Law?” at noon on Feb. 16 in the moot courtroom (room 129) in Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law. His talk, which is part of the Dean’s Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by ONU’s student chapter of the Federalist Society, is free and open to the public.
