COLUMBUS, Ohio—October 1 marks the start of Ohio’s first annual Ohio School Safety Month.

The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) developed the theme "Know School Safety, Know Your Role – It’s Everyone’s Responsibility" for October's activities. 

“Students, staff, parents, and guardians all have an important role in promoting school safety by following safety procedures and reporting concerns,” said Emily Torok, OSSC Executive Director. “It is important to balance sufficient building security with a healthy, nurturing school environment that reassures students that although there is a possibility of violence occurring at school, the probability of a school experiencing a high-profile violent act is extremely low.”

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce and Ada Public Library are looking forward to seeing kids and families at the Depot this Saturday, October 1, for FREE pumpkin decorating from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

This weekend performances continue for Shakespeare's Julius Caesar at ONU's Stambaugh studio theater. You can also meet the cast and production crew at a talkback session held immediately following the 2 p.m. performance on Sunday, Oct. 2. This unique opportunity is free and open to everyone. 

Jeraldine Stone Sparks, age 86, of Kenton, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 9:55 AM at Kenton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  

She was born on January 20, 1936, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late James and Stella (Howard) Stone. 

She married the late Robert Sparks. Her children: David (Lorinda) Sparks of Belle Center, Darlene (Rudy) Altamirano of Kathleen, Georgia and Denise Guess of Kathleen, Georgia all survive, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
