The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard earned a superior rating and first place in Class C Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Buckeye Invitational.
In addition the group earned honors for Best Color Guard, Best General Effect, Best Marching, and Best Visual Effect in class C.
The Buckeye Invitational is a high school band competition sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). It is hosted by The Ohio State University Marching Band and takes place in historic Ohio Stadium.
This year’s competition show is titled “Galactic Journey” and includes band and guard members marching and spinning among the planets in our solar system.
The performance includes music from Gustav Holst’s The Planets as well as original compositions by Director, Dr. Jonathan Lischak. Instrumental soloists include: Jake Colewell on trumpet, Isaac Spar on mellophone, Hunter Wells on tuba, and Nathan Hurtig on baritone saxophone. Amy Webb serves as the Color Guard Director.
The Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard will compete Saturday Oct. 6, at “Music in Motion” hosted by Maumee High School.
