Beaschler: 1 win, 1 loss
FOREST PARK, Mo. — Ada High School grad Zach Beaschler, a freshman on the ONU tennis team, and Andrew Cochran of Wooster each won matches to lead the Ohio Northern men's tennis team at the ITA Central Regional Championships Friday and Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Beaschler went 1-1 in the main 128-man draw, winning his first round match 7-5, 6-1 over Hugo Kouhkna of Transylvania (Ky.) before falling 6-1, 6-1 to 15th-seeded Tytus Metzler of Kalamazoo (Mich.) in the round of 64 for the Polar Bears (0-1 overall).
There was no team scoring.
Cochran won his first match in the UTR D bracket 6-2, 6-0 over Peter Griswold of Principia (Ill.) before falling 6-0, 6-4 to top-seeded Logan Bennett of Millikin (Ill.) in the second round.
Ohio Northern was 2-8 in singles play and 0-2 in doubles action at the tournament.
The Polar Bears have completed their fall schedule and will return to action in the spring.
