Darrell Ray Carty, 1938 - 2018
Darrell Ray Carty, age 80, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 9:03 p.m. at Wapakoneta Manor.
Darrell was the son of Chester Carty and Bonnie Jackson, he was born on March 26, 1938 in Salyersville, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, which included a yearlong tour in Greenland. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lima for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1996.
On March 12, 1960 Darrell married Minnie Mosley, the daughter of Robert and Gladys Mosley. They had two children, Robin Carty, who married Maurice Linn and Mark Carty, who married Sara Chenoweth. He has three grandchildren: Joshua (Jessica) Linn, Erika Carty and Bailey Conaway and two great-grandchildren: Aurora Linn and Grayson Linn. He was greatly loved and cherished by his wife, kids and grandchildren.
Darrell was an avid hunter most of his life. He loved hunting for deer and turkey. He enjoyed being in the woods with his gun or his bow, it made him happy.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger. His casket will be closed and there will be no funeral by his request. There will be a graveside service at Preston Cemetery, Alger for family and friends on Saturday, October 20, at 10:00 a.m. with graveside military honors conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
